How to Check PAN Link with Aadhaar

Linking your PAN (Permanent Account Number) with Aadhaar is mandatory as per the Indian government’s regulations. It helps in streamlining financial transactions and reducing fraudulent activities. If you are unsure whether your PAN is linked with Aadhaar or not, you can easily check it using the following steps:

Step 1: Visit the Income Tax Department’s e-Filing Portal

Open your preferred web browser and go to the official website of the Income Tax Department’s e-Filing portal. You can do this by typing “Income Tax Department e-Filing Portal” in the search bar or directly entering the URL https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal/.

Step 2: Register or Login to Your Account

If you already have an account on the e-Filing portal, you can directly log in using your User ID (PAN) and password. If you are a new user, click on the “Register Yourself” button and follow the registration process to create a new account.

Step 3: Go to the Profile Settings

Once you are logged in to your account, click on the “Profile Settings” tab. It is usually located on the top-right corner of the portal’s homepage.

Step 4: Select “Link Aadhaar”

In the Profile Settings section, you will find various options. Look for the “Link Aadhaar” option and click on it.

Step 5: Enter Your PAN and Aadhaar Details

On the “Link Aadhaar” page, you will see a form where you need to enter your PAN and Aadhaar details. Fill in your PAN number, Aadhaar number, and other required information accurately.

Step 6: Submit the Form

Double-check all the information you have entered to ensure its accuracy. Once you are confident that everything is correct, click on the “Submit” button to submit the form.

Step 7: Verification Process

After submitting the form, the Income Tax Department will verify the provided details with the UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) database. If the details match, your PAN will be successfully linked with Aadhaar.

Step 8: Confirmation Message

Once the verification process is complete, you will receive a confirmation message on the e-Filing portal stating that your PAN is successfully linked with Aadhaar. You can also check the status of the linking process by visiting the “Link Aadhaar” page again.

Step 9: Check via SMS

Alternatively, you can check the PAN-Aadhaar linking status by sending an SMS to 567678 or 56161. Type UIDPAN followed by a space, your 12-digit Aadhaar number, another space, and your 10-digit PAN number. Send this message to either 567678 or 56161 from your registered mobile number.

Step 10: Visit a PAN Service Center

If you prefer an offline method, you can visit a PAN Service Center authorized by the NSDL (National Securities Depository Limited) or UTIITSL (UTI Infrastructure Technology and Services Limited). Provide them with your PAN and Aadhaar details, and they will assist you in checking the PAN-Aadhaar link status.
